Turning the tide in the rise of Non-Communicable Diseases

NCDs are the leading causes of illness and death worldwide but the greatest burden occurs in low- and middle-income countries. An increasing number of global health partnership are focusing attention on NCDs. These address paediatric diseases and bring hope to breast, cervical and stomach cancer and leukaemia sufferers, with partners collaborating to provide expertise, screening equipment and donations. Others galvanize the public and private sectors to fight diabetes and mental health, while other partnerships look beyond one disease with innovative solutions to reduce the NCD burden more generally by focusing on prevention, awareness and healthcare capacity building initiatives over the immediate and long-terms.
