Partnering beyond the pill or jab

Half of the health partnerships involving the research-based pharmaceutical industry focus on strengthening the health system infrastructure capabilities. Examples include HIV/AIDS partnerships that establish and run paediatric treatment centers, training for healthcare professionals, and working with community implementation partners to reduce stigma, promote prevention, improve diagnosis, and provide patient support to ensure treatment compliance. Increasingly some health partnerships take multi-disease approaches and, as a result, increase their overall benefits on communities and patients. More than one-third of health partnerships focus on awareness raising, prevention, and outreach.
